Roles and Responsibilities of the Commissioning Engineer
The Commissioning Engineer (CE) will be responsible for coordinating, delivering, and documenting project related
tasks. As a role in Testing & Commissioning, a Commissioning Engineer is expected to be able to carry out tasks and
responsibilities independently. He is the one who responsible to ensure the Testing & Commissioning tasks assigned by
his/her Superior are able to execute and complete successfully. He/she is also able to assist the Superior to guide the
Technicians and represent Department/Business Units/Division to attend meetings. He/she is also part of the team that
play a pivotal role in achieving the Project/System Integration/Engineering targets and eventually generates
aftermarket revenue for the organization,
Essential Job Responsibilities
The Commissioning Engineer (CE) performs the major function listed below. The position may require additional
duties/responsibilities that may not be outlined below, and specific functions are subject to change.
- Comply with Project Specifications, Commissioning, Plans, and Procedures.
- Carry out mentoring and training to customers or teammates.
- Preparation of Commissioning Plans, Procedures, and Method Statements.
- Also add as Project QC Controller when assigned.
- Complete Reports meeting the Contract Specific requirements for each Project/Engineering/System Integration
- Directly involve Commissioning Engineers with the testing of complex process analyzers including communicating
- Execute Commissioning and Testing across the project.
- Maintain associated documentation according to the ISO workflow.
- Record any design or As Built changes as a direct consequence of installation, and commissioning tests.
- Identify any specialist test equipment and tools.
- Identify training requirements to keep team knowledge up to date with new technology utilized on new projects, and
- Review and develop subcontractor commissioning procedures to meet the contract-specific requirement for each
- Witness commissioning by subcontractor and specialist engineers
- Involve closely with the Project, System Integration, and Engineering Team.
Qualification & Requirements:
The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to successfully perform this role. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training, which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities, would be acceptable, subject to any legal/or regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation, or associate degree with 1 or more years experience in testing and commissioning of process analyzers/GC equipment or Diploma and 3 or more years’ experience of testing & commissioning of process analyzers/GC equipment.
- Must have experience of commissioning process analyzers/GC equipment and involve in projects.
- Experience interfacing with both internal team members and external customers as part of solution-based testing & commissioning process.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.
- 5 years’ work experience in the process industry is preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting and responding to customer concerns.
- Proven record of being reliable and accountable for all aspects of their job.
- Proficient level of computer skills including Ms. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Outlook. ACAD is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner.
